Just have a simple gunsmith type question.

A friend picked up a rifle of unknown caliber. What is the name of the stuff that can be put in the chamber and when dried,it can be generally measured for caliber?

Where can i find this stuff? Thanks guys........

Cerrosafe is cool. thanks

Is there any kind that are like a rubber or foam? this is for general caliber ID,so he knows what he has. If all else fails then he will have to use cerrosafe which seems to be more of a precision material requiring melting and other important stuff. This will get me involved in his purchase Ugh ! LOL  Again thanks for the info

Sorry man....thats the only one I know of. The cerrosafe melts at a relatively low temperature so you dont really need much in the way of special tools.
