I want to bid on a chinese mak 90 thumbhole stock ak, but dont know if the receiver is a slant cut .Its a stamped receiver with a 66 in a triangle and next to it is scribbled mak-90.It still has the cleaning rod hole but the bayo lug and front sight are taken off .No threads on barrel. So what are the chances its been cut,I know they did it to milled and then also some stamped .Id like to convert it back to original.Any and all help please!!!

At least for me, it's really hard to tell from a photo.  Especially one taken from the side where the rifle has the thumbhole buttstock.  I'd say the odds are generally 60/40 that it's slant cut.  If the seller can either look close down in that area or at least get a decent photo, you can sometimes tell.  Perhaps contacting him to get him to take a closer look might help (apologies in advance if you've likely already done that).

Have you tried asking the seller? If he wouldn't give you an answer I wouldn't even bid on it to begin with

Yep, only sure fire way to tell is by taking the stock off.   Tell him you are seriously interested but want to make sure it's not a slant cut.  Then ask for a pic with the stock removed.

If he says no to such a simple request, find a different one for sale.  They are pretty easy to find.

Why did they take the front sight off?
