So I'm just about through with my build.  First one for me so I'm pretty excited.  Everything has gone pretty smooth.  Just one little problem though.  You know that small metal part that fits between the trigger gaurd and the receiver?  Over the front screws?  Mine is pretty much melted to the old reciever piece when they cut it up with the blow torch.  I don't even know what the part is called and I can't find it anywhere on the web.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Oh, and much thanks to you guys for all the information you have put into this site.  This has been the single greastes source of information on AK builds and I couldn't have done it without you.

That is your selector lever stop. You should be able to get it off with some gringing, it is held in place with 4 rivets.  If you still need another then post on the Equipment Exchange Forum, or go look on line at K-VAR Corporation  Welcome to the club, lets see some pic's...

Thanks very much for the reply.  I drilled the rivets out and got the trigger gaurd free, but the selector stop is still "glued" to that piece of old receiver.  I'm going to try to chisle and cut it free tonight....and if that fails I'll take your advice.

I promise I'll post some pics when it's finished!

Much Thanks!

I have made this part in the past. The trigger guard is a readymade template. Hardest part is bending "up" the stop. Use1/8" CRS thinned a bit on the belt sander. Always ask how to do-there is someone working on the problem. Keep building and sharing the info on homebuilds. Patriots unite-build your homeland defense weapon.
