I have had this AK since before any ban that i'm aware of. stamped on it: AK47S 7.62x39MM Made In China Looks like someone dremeled into the receiver Prochine Corp, Sherwood Int'L Export Corp. Northrigde CA. No thumbhole sock, and has a threaded barrel with slant break. Any info would be most helpful |
A pic would help. According to "CampyBob" who is a well respected authority on AK-47s/AKMs etc., he states that all Norinco, China Sports and Polytech weapons are one in the same. Produced primarily at factories 66 and 386. Yours is probably a Norinco built AK, given the Sherwood Int'l Export Corporation inscription. |

Your rifle was exported from China by the PROCHINE CORP which stands for the Peoples Republic Of CHINa Export CORPeration and imported here by Sherwood International Export Corperation. All Chinese SKS and AK rifles were assembled from parts made in many,many small state owned/run factories scattered all of China. The parts were shipped to one of a dozen state owned/run factories to be assembled into rifles. Which factory assembled the rifle is denoted by the 2-4 diget number stamped on the rifle. The most AK rifles are stamped with factory number 416,66,or 386. Then the completed rifles were exported by state owned/run export companies. Other Chinese export companies that exported rifles were NORINCO = China North Industries Corp. Poly Tech = Poly Technoligies Corp. |
