OK - you can do this, but you are going to swear a LOT. First - you need a punch (or a nail) that will JUST go into your TG hole. That's your slave pin. A set of needle nose vice grips helps for this part... position the spring & lever, push HARD (or clamp with the vice grips) wiggle that "slave pin" into one end, swear, wiggle lots more, swear, and get the bastard thru the spring into the OTHER hole. Now get your new pin out. Push OPOSITE to the slave pin... get it in one end as the slave pin begins to come back out the OTHER end. Keep going... did I mention swearing? Push until your contractions are two minutes apart... ummm, ignore that. Push until the slave pin is JUST about backed out. Use leverage on the slave to shove that new TG pin thru the last hole. Now go have a beer. Later, PEEN both ends of the pin. But be CAREFUL - back it up with some steel, or you'll wack the damn thing right back out of the hole... |
DID IT! WOW what a pain. All most like you said and it worked. Never never want to do it again. I penned that slave pin good on each side so it won't happen again. And a big thanks to you guys for the help. Mike |
