Hello so instead of getting an AR I think I'll just get an Ak my budgets $1300 I really like arsenal but I'm open to what's out there .

I'd like to know what ak's are low mid and high end aks

I'd also like to know of good sites with good prices that have aks in stock I'm looking for a 7.62x39mm tell me what's good and what to stay away from. Thanks Tim

Title edited, please don't use all caps in thread titles. Notice nobody else does. dryflash3

Tim,

There are two tacked threads above, one has all the different types of AKs available, and another has good deals that running currently.

That being said, I think you can't go wrong with an Arsenal, but that's just my opinion. The Yugo PAPa look good and with your budget you could stock up on ammo and mags.

Good luck

For $1300 you can get an NPAP and an AR.
Cheaper than Dirt has the NPAP for about $485 + $10 shipping
Grab a Gun has a Bushy M4 for $619
Check Slickguns for the deals

$1300 could you get you top end of either AR or AK these days, perhaps with a little room for mags/ammo.

Or you could get a lower mid range AR and a mid range AK for $600 each.

What's the most economical and reliable ak and how does it stand against an arsenal ? What's the difference between stamped and milled receivers other than price. My ffl has a n pap for $550 also I'll check those links/threads thanks

My 2 cents, the Zastava N-PAPS are as good an AK as you'll ever find. Fit and finish is VERY good. I own one.

$1300?

Get Yugo, mags, ammo and support gear. Have money left for a class to learn how to use it.

WASR will be your 'low' end guns. Some suck some can be great. Century has really up'ed their game in the last few years, there have been good reports on newer WASRs. I just picked one up and gambled buying it online. I'm happy for the most part but the front sight drum was so loose it could be moved with just finger pressure, I think I have it fixed now but I was pretty bummed about it. Crome lined with a hammer forged barrel for $500, not to bad.

Everyone is hot and heavy about the Yugo rifles lately. They are very well built rifles also with hammer forged barrels but no chrome lining. For the most part lack of chrome is fine but personally I will take chrome if I can get it. Aftermarket for Yugo rifles is smaller but growing quickly. Currently N-PAPs can be found for around $530 in several places.

For middle of the road AKs there are M+M inc, Interarms, DDI (took over Waffen Werks), C39s etc. Centry did just announce the gen2 C39 as well as a stamped AK they cal the RAS-47, They look promising but wont hit the market until December (or so they say).

As for 'high end' off the rack rifles its hard to beat Arsenal. You can buy sight unseen with the confidence that you will be getting a great rifle. They obviously cost more but you know you  are getting a quality brand new AK. Some have complained about the finish and the lack of some compatibility with standard AKM rifles but for the most part they are awesome. Currently you will pay about $1000 for their stamped rifles.

Atlantic is a go to source for many but it looks like they only have one stamped Arsenal in stock (assuming your looking at 7.62x39), AIM is also a good place to look but looks like the only AK they have in right now is an N-PAP.

Good luck, I hope you join the dark side soon.

my dad managed to pick up an arsenal slr-95 (milled reciever and one of the best built AK's ever) for $950, u have $350 left, get ya a thousand rounds for $250 maybe and a good amount of mags, stock arsenal has great stock furniture, so no need to upgrade, milled revievers are just better machined, although parts are harder to find for a good price, (butt stock). go with an arsenal if u can find a good deal, they are the greatest built IMO, i also own a WASR-10 and AMD-65, arsenal is just a great AK.

EDIT:: also look on facebook for some AK's u can get good AK deals and sometimes with amma and mags in deal, maybe some more furniture. and ur not in the goverments papers, so when they decide to take our guns, the last person theyll find will be you, lol and if u buy locally and meet F2F u can check out gun alot better, but BE CAREFUL, try and make these deals on the better side of town... u can also negotiate price better, just look and make sure that guns good, look for matching numbers, canted sights, make sure its all in line. good luck!

I don't like doing FTF private transactions unless its a handgun since I'm 19 so I can't deal with an  ffl.  also since Florida doesn't have a firearms registry even if my ffl closes shop or the government does some crazy wrol or shtf shit the rifle will be long gone if it needs to be by then so I don't worry about that stuff.

SGLs have not been in stock for years and now with sanctions against Concern Kalashnikov there will be no more new rifles produced. SLRs, SAM7s, and Arsenal pistols have been the only thing in stock for quite a while. K-Var has a few SLRs, Atlantic only has the one SLR in stock. I'm not familiar with Petronov arms but the rest look solid.

i have no experience nor ever heard of most those rifles, except the arsenal really, the arsenal will be better built and quality check other sights, also check, gunbroker.com or other online listings, gunbroker is trustworthy, you cant go off of a picture and a price when buying an AK, all those $700 ak's might be decent but if ur range is $1300 i wouldnt get any of those, even the arsenal, go with an slr-95 or slr-101 it is i think, also a very nice gun, let us know when u make the purchase

I've purchased from a handful of online vendors and had very good luck with most all. That being said, in reference to Atlantic hopping on your thread and offering to talk you through the process, I've purchased from them and (like most members here and on other forums) you will be hard pressed to find better quality people and higher levels of customer service. Atlantic is a great resource. Their prices will be as good as or better than most too.  I have a few Arsenals and am a bit of a fanboy for them. If I had the funds currently, however, I'd like to grab a Yugo too.

I'm going to buy an NPAP off my ffl he wants $575 for it but I'll try to bring him down on the price the way I look at it is with tax and background check if he doesn't come down on price it will be $614.50 so I'll have $750 left to spend if I wanted and if I keep it in the box unfired and put it on armslist I don't see why I wouldn't get $800 for it hell maybe I'll buy 2 and make $1600  and still have $ left over

But you know the Arsenal "will be better built and quality"?  I'm not trying to be a dick, believe me that's not who I am, but if you have no basis for your knowledge, how can you make such a judgment?

ETA: OP, take Atlantic up on their offer.

I'm pretty confident that
I'm just going to get stag arms model 8T.

I love that rifle and even though it will cost me $1150 without tax I believe it's a good investment due to lifetime warranty and good reviews like shooting 1,000 Rds at a time flawlessly. Its got rails all over it so I can Mount a flash light laser and optics if I wanted to.

That's called being in business per ATF. Enjoy your prison sentence if you don't have an FFL.
