I searched the build section and found info about riveting every other part but this, "the side scope rail".
Any help would really make my day, I ordered the side rail and rivets to install but I'm unsure as to how or what tool will fit inside the receiver.
I know there are some types of air tools and a modified bolt cutter style press, but I've yet to see a link that points me somewhere.

This is being installed on a MAK-90  with 1.5mm thick receiver
red-star FCG
Buffer and a
Pin retaining plate

Thanks for any help....

Have you seen these videos on installing the scope rail?

That really helped answer some questions about that rivet tool, although it is still a $250.00 tool plus the 12+ ton press. ouch...
If I was on a budget, how else could a guy press the rivets.

Hire a gunsmith I guess, the one I talked to said rivets wouldn't hold. That statment alone told me he didn't know what he was talking about since millions of AKs around the world are held together with rivets. I'll keep looking and try some other gunsmiths in town and see what they know about AKs.

Thanks for your help and links too.

You could drill and tap the holes and use screws from the inside. That is what I did.   I think that I used 10-32 pan head screws with an allen head slot.

That just might be the ticket.
A lot more material to grab the threads on the mount rather than the 1.5mm receiver.
Does it seem to hold well? lock-tight?

Tell you the truth, I haven't had the money for an optic yet. Those screws were a pain in the backsides to put in but I think they will be fine. I locktighted the crap out of them.
