OK guys so I took my SAM7 to the range today and shot a lot of rounds. When I brought it home I figured I'd do a white glove cleaning since I don't plan on shooting it for a while. Well I took the handguard off after a lot of work getting the retaining plate to budge. Well now I can't the handguard back on. I tried for an hour and no luck
The retaining plate won't slide back on the handguard. I even tried a hammer and tried to tap it in and no luck. Any advise guys? |

I had a handguard give me trouble before. The way I got it in was pushing the handguard into the retainer first, then hold them together while inserting the other end into the receiver. |

Squeeze the handguard together at the top as you put it in the retainer. Sometime the handguard is too wide. May have to use a pair of channel lock pliers.

Thank you. I will try that tomorrow. One quick other question, figured I'd ask here instead of starting a new thread. I want to get a tapco g2 trigger for my milled SAM7R. Do I get a single hook or double hook trigger?

Did you check the little locking lever? I usually have trouble reinstalling the lower handguard when that little locking lever isn't in the right position. When sliding the plate into place make sure the lever is pointing towards the muzzle end of the rifle. Yes sir I did. I cannot for the life of me get it back in. I'll try to squeeze the handguard before reinstalling when I get home tonight and see if that works. |
