I have a Yugo that will not cycle.  I replaced the gas tube with a new one.  I tried my buddy's bolt and carrier from his gun.  No change.
I installed his trigger group and got to fire one shot and a shell broke so I couldn't try it out anymore after that.  I know, I know I shoulda had a broken shell extractor already...

When this gun is fired the bolt stays forward all the way - not just forward,  forward as in it feels like it was welded in place and it's almost impossible to move.  We had to end up tapping very persuasively on the carrier handle to get it to move.  This happens with every shot.  Anyone ever experience this?

Thanks

Do rounds cycle through it ok if you load the mag and manually pull the bolt, let her fly, pull, etc.?

The gas switch is set correctly.  I can load the mag, fire one shot and then it's jammed up tight so it's not like the gas tube isn't trying to throw the bolt back, it's just that the bolt won't move even when pulled back by hand.

Is this a "new" weapon?

Have you diassembled it completly and cleaned every speck of cosmo off every nook and cranny?

If not go here first;

www.surplusrifle.com/sks/index.asp

Read how to disassemble and clean it.

I use oderless mineral sprits and let it soak overnight. the cosmo just brushes right off.

well i would suggest cleaning it out again you can never know how well it was cleaned out unless you yourself do the work.            Check the barrel and make sure there are no obstructions where the gas would enter the gas tube,  does the gas piston move freely in the gas tube??  Also you need to take the rear gas tube completely out and clean that (as most people neglect to do that)  and check and see if there are any odd-markings  on either gas piston from them being missaligned or something of that nature.  If you have cleaned it   already and still have problems after you have checked everything ive mentioned, you probably have something that has been hit in the receiver  and area where the bolt slides, is out of spec causing it to jam,  I took the internals of mine and polished them with jewlers rouge and then properly oiled everything. So on the outside of my sks everything appears  normal, but on the inside everything is polished to a mirror finish,   YOU CAN SEE YOUR SELF IN THE GAS PISTON   lol. I have had my Yugo jam in the forward position as you say but only when im using the plastic detachable mags,   Do you Still have your factory 10 round attached mag?

Well after some very careful poking around, I found out what was causing the failure.  The small gas piston spring had once upon a time been caught around the head of the piston and sheared the very tip off making it sharp like a fish hook.  I suspect that it was getting up and over the piston head and causing it to not want to push back on the bolt.   Didn't notice it when cleaning and such.

Thanks everyone for the help.
