[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Homemade Grip Replacement

I've wanted to replace my stock Yugo grip with a wood grip, so today I decided to make one:

I've fitted it already. Tomorrow I plan on drilling the bolt hole and applying the first coat of stain to match the rest of my furniture. I'll post more pics as it's completed.

Looks good.

What did you use to make your grip?

I made one from solid wood, didn't like it and took it off.

Glued up some strips to make one from lamanite, but that project has stalled after after rough cutting out the shape.

I used oak laminate.

Here it installed:
