| What do you guys use to store your AK47 mags? I’m looking for ideas such as tool boxes , bags, ammo cans?... pics! |
| AK mags are too thick to fit the AR one I believe. Also, they weigh a lot more which is why the AK box doesn't have the handle on top, but instead two molded on the sides. I have each of those boxes. I keep my loaded "go to" mags in them. The AK box is nice, but it's huge for just 9 mags. |
| 4 loaded mags in chest rig, 1 with rifle. Others sit in an open plastic bin next to the safe. They're unloaded. Cycle em out by visiting range each week or two and only service em if sand/mud/grit get involved. AK mags are a hardy bunch. Atleast my euro military surplus mags are. Don't really use anything else, but starting to test a few of the reinforced magpul variety. Liking the idea of less chance of rust with those |

30mm (not 30 cal) ammo cans also work well, especially for loaded mags, and stack easy.
I’ve used fat 50s too but the mags sit upright in a 30mm can so it’s easy to pick one out without digging to the bottom. And you can easily identify what type of ammo is loaded in each mag. Fat 50s are great for 20s though. The MTM can is nice if you want to keep your mags from touching. Like if you have some high dollar collectibles or you’ve got some nice artwork on ‘em. I don’t, but use MTM cans for my AR mags. |

I keep the loaded mags in a shallow "ammo crate"... It will hold 13 mags perfectly, with a couple of 20s or 30s on top... and isn't too heavy to lug around...

Would be heavy, but at the same time, would be nice to have more loaded AK mags at the ready. For comparison, here's the deep and shallow... Until I pulled out a pouch and some the mags were rusty. |

| I bought this 100-pack of 4"x10" small reclosable ziplock bags 4mil HEAVYDUTY for storing AK mags. The bags are made of heavy plastic that can withstand the sharp edges on AK mags, and they seal to contain oil or other lubricants on the magazines. For example, the new production Bulgarian steel mags that I bought came in thin plastic wrappers with oil seeping out of them, so I dropped the whole thing - mag and plastic wrapper - in these bags to contain everything and keep the oil from getting everywhere. The bags are a little long for a 30-rounder but fold over for storage, and they're long enough to hold a 40-round mag. I keep everything in large MTM ammo crates. |
These by Caliber / Country of origin - they stack nicely too.

Search for surplus mag carriers being cleared out. I think a bunch of east german are what I last bought for a few bucks a pop. Some will have shoulder straps and some are for going on a belt. Cheap surplus belts are not hard to find. All my ak stuff is steel 7.62x39 other than some very very few plastic ones I may recall buying but have no clue what they are. I also got some drums. Find some drum holders or something similar for them. If you go to a nice range with concrete walkouts where you can roll a big ol gun case and other stuff out, great. If you go shoot at a farm and carry a rifle out then having a mag holder or two on your shoulder makes life really simple. |

Quoted: Went with tall and fat 50 cans. yeah, that's ok........but what about your other mags you may have? you going to buy a bunch of cans for those as well? then having to open up each can to get a mag or 2 from each can, then close them up. the way I store mine is I got a large east bloc weapons crate; H13"W26"L46", sectioned off the interior and placed all my mags(rifle and pistols) in that. I just have to open the lid and grab whatever mags I need to take to the range, without having to open up individual can, boxes etc....
