How I just have to be lucky as hell or is there a good way to search out something like this?
Thanks.

You could easily find an 84 kit on AKfiles.  Reach out to Andrew at Arms of America I bet they have them

I had a 74 PLO kit once, only bought it because that was the year I was minted.

I'd follow others instructions posted above, I just happened to come across that 74.

Yep. My first thought was a 10/63, mine is a 1985.

Back when Romy kits were plentiful I remember an active parts exchange thread on Akfiles where people were trading to get the specific years they wanted, or even sometimes finding mismatching parts that someone else got in their kit.

Different times

I swear I thought I had an account on Akfiles but I guess not. Just registered and am awaiting approval to start hunting down an 84 AK.

Thanks guys

A lot of the older wasrs were made off demilled rifles and had 80s dates on the trunions.

I have always believed that the AK developed in the USSR is the most aesthetic weapon in the world.

Well that's a hella first post, welcome to arfcom man!

I don't know about most aesthetically pleasing, but possibly the most compelling for many reasons.

@Ops you have one?

I still haven’t had any luck tracking down anything 1984. I did find a Polish underfolder parts kit but it was kinda expensive. That would be my last option.

That's the date on the barrel trunnion, it's just dumb luck...  it is a .mil part of a Romy parts kit.  I would have no idea of where to look for one.  We put way too much work in this thing to let it go...
