I'm sure it's been done before but I haven't seen one in a long time.  Post pics of your personal AK that you would use if SHTF, along with any rig you have for carrying gear, side arm, whatever you want.  Most people think Red Dawn when you say SHTF...think what you want...I tend to lean more towards Katrina but that's beside the point.  How's your AK set up?  Is it your primary SHTF rifle?  Assume you have to go mobil and can't stay in your home...

My primary SHTF rifle would probably be my SAM-7 SF.  The stock is solid enough to use as a club and this rifle is a 2-3MOA performer which is better than most AK's I've owned.  I'd more than likely go with one of those discrete pack/rifle cases with maybe 100rnds on strippers with a guide, food, water purifier, a couple surefire flashlights and extra batteries, small spare parts, first aid and other supplies and a chest rig with 6 - 30rnd mags, and one in the rifle.  Side arm would be a HK45C with 5-8rnd mags and 100rnds in boxes in the pack.

My wife would probably take my SAS M-7, similar setup but with less ammo (weight), Glock G19 and 5-15 rnd mags with 100rnds loose in boxes.  Both rifles are KISS.  No optics...no batteries.

That's if I couldn't take a vehicle.  People might say that's not enough ammo but most that say that haven't ever rucked far with a basic combat load.  Ammo is heavy.  You're not going to be carrying 2000rnds of 7.62x39 around with you...

What's your flavor?

that's a tough one for me. I have 3 really nice ones. I guess my 1st pick would be my krink

Followed by my 107CR, hopefully I get it cut before anything like a SHTF happens.

or maybe just take em both?

or my newest. This is last right now b/c I have not had the chance to site it in or run it for function yet.

They're all AK's, so I feel real comfy about taking them regardless of which I was to grab. This is my next one on the list

No question I'd grab my 5.45 and go, along with my gym bag and 22 mags, that's exactly why I went with the Krink.

H-1 on a Stormwerkz, Samson type 3 rail, G2 LED with the 230 lumins lamp and SOG single point sling. Good for bugging out.

Thats a Satcom bag and it depends on how much you want to pack it.

It can do 2 in the side pocket and maybe 8-10 inside with the Krink, maybe more if you pack it really tight. I don't like the mags to get all scratched up but 6 inside would fit pretty easy.

eta

Just checked and I could fit 14 mags in the main compartment plus 2 on the side, AND the krink

Maybe just me, but I think concealability is a NOLA type situation is essential; being able to "blend in with the crowd" would be paramount. Authorities know you have a firearm and you're gonna be up a creek. That being said, I had thought an AK with a folding stock was in order. Although the underfolders look right-as-rain, I really don't like shooting them. They're uncomfortable and seem to get wobbly quickly if they aren't already. I like the Krinkov style sidefolder and have found them be very solid and they stay solid. With the craze of all the Khyber Pass guns being built, I thought that would be the perfect SHTF AK. Keep the full-length barrel (keeps velocity up) and give it a rock solid (and comfortable) folding stock. Had an extra Romanian "G" kit, receiver and got a Bulgarian stock, sent it all off to inrange and had Troy build me a Khyber Pass AKM. Great gun, plenty accurate and concealable. In a fit of stupidity, I sold it. Shouldn't have and wish I hadn't. Now I got to get me another.
