Well I picked up an SLR-100 with a Hungarian barrel and parts kit. I'm debating if I should do an ING clone or go wood and blued steel. I'm trying to find more pictures of ING rifles to confirm that they don't have a sling swivel installed on the left side of the receiver like the earlier AKK's. If so that would make that a lot easier to reproduce than having to install a sling swivel on the left side and move the manufacturer information to the other side of the receiver.

Thanks all.

90 degree gas block. No sling patch.

45 degree gas block. Sling patch.

Early ING rifles had the 45 degree GB and a sling swivel patch. They had the older style receivers which were patched for the sling swivel hole. Later rifles were the 90 degree GB and no swivel patch on the receiver.

Arsenal BG used older off-the-shelf receivers and parts to fulfill the first military order. The older T3 receivers were used, and the factory decided to "patch" the sling swivel hole in favor of the swivel on the buttstock. It's a factory fix, and not one done in the field or by the Iraqi government.

Thanks for the pics; I haven't seen some of those. I'm guessing the swivel plug is just the swivel cut off and butterflied out like they are on the inside?

That's what it looks like.

I'm not sure how prevalent the 90 degree rifles were in use, but an SLR-101 is pretty much like the ING rifles. Your newly acquired rifle would make a nice clone, albeit without the swivel plug.

The 90 degree GB is an actual military configuration produced by Arsenal of Bulgaria.
In Iraq, from all the pictures I've seen, it appears that the 90 degree GB AK are only fielded to the ING in the Ramadi region.
Below are some non-Iraq pics of the 90 degree GB rifles

I knew that the 90 degree gas block is the new "modern" configuration. Did not know about being issued in the Ramadi region of Iraq.
