Maybe I missed something but why can't you press the trunion back on the barrel and then use an air hammer to rivit the receiver to the trunion useing the barrel as the bucking tool. Thanks For Any Help Paul

It's been done. In fact it was one of the original methods from an early video.

I'd hate to have to press the barrel back out after doing it that way. I started looking at the back side of the rivets as I was demilling and decided how I'd do things. I've yet to get as uniform and nice a smush, but I'm trying! YMMV.

you can but it wont be a strong
when you smash a rivet from both sides it will swell and form to the inside of the hole even if it isnt round
