Having trouble getting hammer pin to seat all the way when putting in the hammer. Feel like the spring won't allow it to go all the way in. About a mm or 2 which won't allow the tapco retainer to engage on grooves.. Any suggestions? Should I just buy a new spring and see if it's easier? Thanks!

The hammer spring should not be keeping the axis pin from seating all the way. Make sure that the pin is lined up on the opposite side of the receiver and give the pin a little tap with a hammer. I have had this issue with several NDS receivers and a little tap on the axis pin works just fine.

Thanks! Got it in somehow. Now I can't get the safety to line up with tapco retainer Plate. Seems as though the plates hole is slightly too small!! Crappp

I had to do some grinding on the tapco plate I used.  The hole for the safety just didn't line up right.

I use RSA retaining plates and have never had a problem. AK-builder has them for about $5.

Good advice. You can also use a spent 12 gauge hull as well.

Putting a twist tie on the hammer spring like that is a finger saver too!
That is the only way I would do it.

I tried the twist ties and must have had one that was about to go....needless to say it snapped the hell out of a finger.  I also use a spent 12 gage shell, pretty easy to contain and hold....it also seems easier to hold onto when putting it back into the receiver and lining up the pin.
