Its my first AK. Had it built from all 100 series russian parts by a very well known builder. Sighted in the optic today and had a look at the brass and was concerned at what I saw. Ballooned necks and cratered primers. Definitely not typical for my usual bread and butter which is ARs but is this typical for AKs?
Ammo is wolf and s&b.

Nevermind. Apparently some saigas came with stepped chambers to differentiate civilian and leo brass from military brass.

I do believe the ring on the neck denotes a civilian contract barrel.
