Has anyone ordered any magazines that K-Var recently got back in stock. I am talking about either the 47 or 74 mags. I read on another forum that they sent this guy "well used" AK-74 magazines. I am just curious if anyone has received there mags from them and if so have they been new or used, and yes I have bought mags from them before and they were new, but not sense this latest bach has come in. Thanks for your help. |

Gotta love the internet........Bob at K-Var is taking care of it, if you have a problem with something you get from them, they will take care of you. As far as them never having anything in stock.........ever tried importing anything from that part of the world? Century Arms fucked the industry with that shipping container of 7K of Romanian AK's.....and now it's extremely hard to get anything out of the Black Sea area. Everything has to be air shipped now. K-Var's getting more stuff in every day. Just gotta do the ol' hurry up and wait thing sometimes. |

I was just playing when about K-Var actually having something in stock. They actually do have a lot of stuff in stock, it's just that they have a LOT of pics and descriptions of stuff they DON'T have. I have ordered from them in the past and I have nothing but good things to say about K-Var. I am sure that whatever you will be top notch just like everything I have ordered from them. It is just such a tease to look on their website and see all those wonderful toys that aren't in stock. |
No, I understand, but I work fairly closely with those guys and you wouldn't believe the head ache that it is to actually get stuff out of the Black Sea area....Bulgaria/Romania. You can thank Century Arms for screwing it up for everyone. |
| Thanks guys for all of the help, I was probably getting worried over nothing. I have never had any problem with K-Var in the past and they have always done me right. I can only imagine just how difficult that it must be for them to import anything. Can't wait to see some of those AK-74 45rd mags to come in, that will be a great day. |
Yeah ... It'll be a great day for me 'cause I'm getting them all ....... Can you say Home Equity Loan ? TravisAasen will be sukin' wind ... eating greasy possum pie !! No 45 Rounders for his old Krinks !! ... He'll try to jam one of his old slabsides into the Krink !! Just hide and watch .... ![]()

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but remember when that huge shipment of "assault rifles" was found in that shipping container in Italy? Those were actually SARs bound for the USA, being imported by Century. However, the shipping label said something like "scrap metal" or something along those lines. Well with all the heightened fears about 9/11 and terrorism this didn't sit well with Customs and the media and it caused a big stink. Now it's even harder for companies like Arsenal, Inc and others to import the precious parts and rifles that we desire. <I hope I didn't butcher that story too much Tim> Also let me add that with the dollar getting it's ass kicked around the world prices will continue to climb. Those $10.99 mags we used to enjoy are history |
Pretty close. Actually, they weren't SAR-1's, they were select fire AKM's that were going to be parts kits here, so they were OPERATIONAL select fire assault rifles, in a shipping container labled something like "truck parts". The Italians decided something was "fishy" with the container and opened it for inspection.....since not many truck parts or whatever come out of Romania. The Italian Customs agents just about shit their pants, and the media was right behind them. Turns out that Century had the proper paperwork, and everything was legal, but the way they went about things and the huge shitstorm it blew up, you know, 7000 fully automatic machine guns destined for US shores and of course terrorists would love to get their hands on this stuff kind of shit........the publicity was just too much. Century has also fucked a couple of decent vendors here in the US about FAL kits, Dan's Ammo in PA being the most prominent. The TWO surface shipping companies that operate in the Med/Adriatic/Black Seas decided to not carry any container originating from the Black Sea area if there was any chance that the container included firearms or firearm parts. What that means is that now everything that K-Var, or anyone else for that matter, want to import, have to be shipped over by air carrier, and that's a whole lot more expensive than by container ship. It also means that K-Var tries to get a fair amount of merchanidise together for shipments to cut down costs. If I sounded snappish I didn't mean to, it was a long day and honestly, since I talk with these guys a fair amount and I know what they have to go through, I get a little defensive when I hear people bash K-Var. No one is an angle in this industry, but my experience has shown me that they will try their best to correct a mistake. The original poster on the K-Var forum has come back and stated that K-Var is taking care of him, and that from the sound of things they were grabbing mags off of the pallet that they arrived in and were shipping them straight out due to the demand. They didn't know that the Bulgarians had slipped in some used mags. Alright.......I'm stepping off my soapbox now..........nothing more to see here.......move along, move along........ |

Sorry Templar, I was not trying to step on anyone's toe's or piss anyone off by my post. I was just wanting to know if the mags that they have are new or not. I was not intending on bashing K-Var in anyway because I have delt with them on several occasions and I think that they are an excellent company. I really wish that more company's would follow in the footsteps of K-Var, because if they did we would be able to get a whole lot more of the great things that we all want and are saving up our $ to buy.

Can't peg the FAL thing all on Century, as they were fine until the ATF revised their rules enforcement to go after what they had previously let thru. And Interodnance had their own role in the demill mess with the 7.62x25 Russian guns, and some maximized accounting. Otherwise I am sure they did not get a bigger whse with no plans to fill it. |

Nice trigger awareness on the part of the Carabinieri! K-Var rocks in my opinion. Like everyone else, I wish prices were lower, but their customer service is really excellent. They also were able to find me a couple of parts that were listed as out of stock, it never hurts to ask them
