I was wondering if you guys could help out the new guy again. I'm planning on buying a Lancaster LAKM-47M, and there are a couple options i am unsure of. 1) The option of the notched selector lever. I have no idea what this is. If I were to make a guess, I would say that it is the fire/safe selector. But some help would be appreciated. Is it worth the money? 2) Polished Bolt Carrier. I've come across a thread on here that tells how to do this yourself, with a Dremel, Steel wool , and some Never Dull. Now i'm pretty mechanically inclined ( welder by trade ) but is what I do going to turn out as good as the one Lancaster does? Or is it going to look like somebody did it with a Dremel, Steel Wool , and some Never Dull. 3) 1mm vs. 1.6mm. How big of difference is there? Other than the obvious. Will you gain some accuracy with the 1.6mm or is the 1mm good enough. Thanks for your help. |
| Thanks for the thread zwvirtual! Some good info on there. But I'm still curious as to what the Notched Selector is. And also about the Polished Bolt Carrier. They are both options an the Lancaster web site. Maybe i'm just nit picking on the options but i'd like to have as much info as possibe before i place my order. I was also wondering about the difference in the furniture. I'm kind of leaning twards the blonde, but not sure if I should go with semi gloss or gloss. Any idea what purple85gt's is? A notched selector leaver allows you to hold the bolt open while you change the magazine. The polished bolt carrier is just that, polished versus black coated. There are threads on here on how to polish the bolt if you want to do it yourself. As far as I can tell (never seeing both to compare) mine is gloss. It's laminated but as compared to pics of blonde wood, I don't think mine is blonde. Mine (to me) seems a little darker. Again, I don't have a blonde one to compare to, just pics I've seen. Lancaster is a great company, you won't get junk. When you get yours, add it to the lancaster thread zw linked to above
