I've been looking at lasers.... both for long guns (rifle & shotgun) and pistols... Anyone have any comments.... or experience... about RED- vs.-GREEN regarding preference of one over the other?.... ...For a rifle or shotgun.... it "might" be advantageous under certain situations...for me anyway. ...and IF I can get a deal on something small & effective I might pick one up for The Girls Springfield Armory XD 9mm (4" barrel)..... when her CPL finally arrives. ...only other issue would be carry options, as this pistol is pretty much full-size with a small rail just forward of the trigger guard. ANYWAY.... back to the issue at hand.... anyone notice any differences between the red or green.... for daytime OR nightime operations....??? Anything to consider regarding effective distance in red-vs.-green? -THANKS!… -

They only laser experience I have is the AN/PEQ-15 which was issued with my M4. I found the (red) laser awkward during the day and I am much faster to get a sight picture via my ACOG. Everyone is different so results may vary. For night time, the IR laser and AN/PVS-14 rules the night. I was able to consistantly hit 300 meter targets, the IR laser is much more "visible" with NVG's.
Back to the question of "red" versus "green". I do know the red laser is harder to see with sunlight against the target. For me, I find the green laser is easier for the eye to see. |
