| Is there such a thing? How much are they? |
No i'm building a bullpup, just heard about a left handed model. Did they even make one? And thought it would be good for me since i could shoot it left handed. |
| Somebody on here modified thier AK with a top mounted charging handle, Of course they got all kinds of flak about everything from looks to dust covers. But I dont know if it would work on the top with a bullpup, as you would run into the same problem, charging handle to the face. I am sure you could just as easily put the charging handle on the left hand side, But you would still have to worry about where the spent cartridges go. I know on my mak 90 they eject out to the front about the 1:30 and a good 20 feet ahead. I have heard, but dont know for a fact, that you can change the direction of the spent cartrige ejection by filing the ejector. |
Get the new Kel Tec that is a bullpup, shoots 7.62x51mm, and uses FAL mags. It ejects the cases forward. IF you can wait until 2008! This just in from the Shot Show -- Kel-Tec has introduced a new line of High Efficiency Rifles in a Bullpup format. Called the RFB for Rifle Forward ejection Bullpup, it is chambered in 7.62mm -- utilizes FN FAL magazines -- and comes with barrel lengths of 18", 24", and 32". Toby from KT allowed me to fondle these today and I must say that this is George Kelgren's best effort yet. This rifle is extremely well designed, well built, and uses plenty of steel where it is needed. I was considering the purchase of an FN FS2000 because of it's benefits to a lefty like me -- but now that I've seen this, I'll be quashing those plans to await the release of the RFB, scheduled to hit retailer's shelves in 2008. |
To build a bullpup that will work for a left hander, you will have to modify the rifle to eject to the left. That means a mirror image receiver, top cover, bolt carrier, bolt and a modified safety just to make it left handed. I hope you are, or know, a very good machinest! |

For a left handed bullpup AK this might work (just popped into my head): -Remove charging handle from bolt carrier. -Install new charging handle (on left side of carrier, on top, etc) -Attatch a deflector to the dust cover that ricochets the brass downwards. If it were me, I'd make one that is almost like a hard brass catcher with an angled top for deflection and no bottom to it. Potential Problems: -Improper deflection angle could cause brass to bounce right back into the action (maybe, just something to consider, maybe just having the deflector there in general would prove to be an issue) -Might have to modify the safety, depending on the size and shape of the deflector. Consider installing a thumb selector a la Tantal. -With the bullpup layout, the deflector might interfere with your cheekweld and/or nose. I don't know for sure as far as the cheek weld, might be far enough forward. As for your schnoz getting in the way, you might be able to make it low enough profile in the rear as to not pose any problems. Maybe. But I don't have to worry about it myself. Even though I'm a lefty, I can still shoot right handed on irons. HTH |
Just call him a liar, he said he built it. and if he has some machining skills, It wouldnt be that hard. The pics of that 9mm pistol are sick....Can I get some more info on it? I heard some people were working on that project a while back, But thats the best looking one I have seen. |
he's got some pics of it on akfiles.com, its in the 9mil/762.25 pistol build thread, its fucking bad, left side cocking lever and some great sheetmetal work on it. |
LOL, ya I just mirrored the pics in paintshop. The top one is real though. Not mine, but there are a few out there. Im sure it's possible to make a left side eject, but you'd have to redesign the bolt system. |
