I was talking with a guy I know and we had a discussion regarding sks rifles. I do not own one I just want to know so that I am informed. If he has a Chinese sks in its original configuration with the bayonet lug, can he customize it in the following way without breaking any laws? for example (922r)… what he would want would include: a folding stock (obviously with pistol grip), he would remove the bayonet lug, and move the sight back, put a flash hider on it, a TS100 rear sight, and possibly a hitech detachable magazine (with the “no duck bill” adapter). As much info as you can give me would be great. I am looking for info on this specific configuration because it was the topic of our conversation. Please assume that the rifle has already been imported. Because it would be Chinese I don’t think the C&R law applies. Because it would have the lug on it I am not sure when it would have been imported, and I am not sure that matters anyway. Would he have to do the “tapco type” conversion to get it to 10 or less parts? Would the parts listed be counted and if so what else would he have to add to it to get it legal? I have found many convoluted and outdated links but I can not find an answer that I can understand. I must reiterate that this is NOT a rifle that I own and I will NOT be doing any modifications to ANY sks rifles. Thanks guys I have faith that I will get a great answer…

A US made folding stock and magazine will replace 4 imported parts and make the rifle 922r compliant

Bayonet doesn't matter one way or the other

Muzzle attachment must be US made or another part must be replaced for compliance

(This is in regard to Federal law, there are additional state and local ordinances depending on your location regarding mags and stocks)
