I'm still pretty new to the AK and was wondering about the pros and cons of keeping AK magazines loaded for extended periods (months & years).  I'm used to AR magazines being able to stay fully loaded for years without problems later.

But what about keeping various types of AK magazines (30 rounders) fully loaded?  Can anyone give me their experiences and/or the general rule of thumb about this issue?

Thanks

You need not worry about damaging AK magazines by leaving them loaded.
In fact, you really don't have to worry about AK magazines at all. Just buy mil-surp magazines in good condition.

There are no problems leaving AK mags, or any other mags, loaded for extended periods of time.  Compressing and decompressing springs is what wears them out, not leaving them compressed.
