I finally got to shoot my AK (and yes it was a good day...). After probably 90 rounds or so I started having stoppages. I'm fairly competent with firearms but am new with this platform. Looking in the ejection port I noticed a round lodged above the barrel between the spring guide rod and upper cover. No biggie, remedial action, fresh mag and GTG. Another few rounds, FTF. Immediate action, no good since the charging handle/bolt is stuck to the rear. I look in the ejection port and see a round wedged between the bolt and the top cover to the rear of the magazine area. Had to remove the top cover and recoil spring/guide rod assembly to clear the jam. BTW, all matching serial numbers and AK is in very nice condition. New mags from AIM and factory brown bear ammo.

Did you clean the rifle throughly, twice, before shooting it?
If not, it's possible that the preservative which the Romanians use is the source of your problem. They cover the rifles with it. Century doesn't get all of it off and when you heat the rifle up it "bleeds" from every crevice.
Try a through cleaning and shoot the rifle again.

bad ejector
or
good ejector but bad center support (too wide)
or
good ejector and center support but rails are too narrow or bolt carrier is too narrow allowing lateral play

The ejector should almost touch the bolt - any gap between the tip of the ejector and the slot on the bolt face = erratic ejection .  Not as big a deal on 7.62 but critical on the 5.45.

Could also be extractor not releasing case or carrier short stroking which leads to the problems above.

I too would suspect the width of the center support or ejector.  Check the ejector and see if it is showing funny wear.  Next check the bolt carrier/bolt for side to side motion.  You should not have much.  As GP said, the ejector should just clear the bolt.

as other have said, clean it, check the extractor and spring, and the ejector
