I'm sure this has been asked before but are you guys really SURE that a loose fitting muzzle device (slant or any other style brake) won't affect accuracy?

I suppose the only way to know for sure would be to remove it, shoot a 5 or 10 shot group, let the rifle cool and clean the barrel.  Reinstall the brake and shoot another group and compare them.

My slant break is loose and I was shooting damn good groups w/ my AKM.  YMMV.

I saw somewhere that a guy did several shots with the muzzle brake on then took it off and the shot pattern was in a different place. He also did a test on several different muzle brakes and they were all different patterns. If you were to take your brake off  then re-sighting would probably be best.

Accuracy?  It's an AK...  It's made to go bang, and it does it quite well.

I have a JTAC compensator that needs about another 3/4 turn to be snug.  Can I use something a little coarser than 200 grain sandpaper to get it there?  It's taking forever w/200.

Not sure but let me know whenever you try it out...the comp that is b/c I'm thinking of getting one....that vid they had awhile back won me over!

Ah well screwit I'll try some coarser sandpaper and see what happens.

As for the brake it works great.  Better than the slant IMO.  I think it's worth it.

I get the feeling you just like to shoot to hear the bang but i like to know where mine's hitting for those pesky varmits.

it will affect accuracy, at least mine did till i sanded off the excess and made it good and snug, then the groups were the same as without the brake

No, if I REALLY need to hit something with decent accuracy and/or at a longer range I'd use a more appropriate rifle.  A loose muzzle nut is only one of a few factors that limit it's accuracy.  Why single out one issue when there are others as well?  There's a lot of play inside an AK!

Gotta agree w/ Dave

If you want an accurate AK or variant....go w/ an Arsenal milled or VEPR...

There's just too much flex around the receiver to be a 1" MOA tack driver on a std. AK...w/ that said...I'm sure some standard run of the mill AK's are damn accurate.

ETA: ammo also plays a huge factor...
