Im trying to reinstall a handguard on a build i just finished, but i cannot get it to latch. THe barrel is correctly installed, and the trunion is riveted into a NDS reciever. Everything fits great and works perfectly except for the lower hand guard. I cannot get it in far enough to latch, there is no gap at the bottom where it touches the reciever either. What is the easiest way to cut the handguard down a few millimeters and recut the notch for the front latch? Any ideas fellas? pat |

I had a similar problem with an EG bakelite handguard going onto a Romy G build on an NDS-3 receiver. I actually had to trim my handguard just a little bit where it fits between the front trunion and the receiver, but then it went right on. It doesn't sound like yours is having the same problem though. I also have another build that I have to use a rawhide mallet to set the front pin back on, it's too tight to push with my fingers. I put it on with the rawhide mallet and flip the lever back up by using a flat blade screwdriver carefully to lift up the locking lever. Good luck. |

Its a wood handguard for a yugo M92. I refinished the guards with some stain and a clear coat, but everything still first tight, the gap is not from those things. Ive tried the mallet and screwdriver to lift the lever but that didnt work when i gave it a go a few months back. Ill give it another try though with help from a friend. I think filling it down is the only option, i have some mini files and a planner so ill just take a bit off at a time till it works. Thanks Pat |
