Hello everyone, I'm brand new to this forum. I like this place.

I recently bought an AMD-65 parts kit. I bought all the 922r parts to complete the job. I also hand made a stainless steel receiver useing ace arms pdf file template.

Talk about some tufff stufff!!! Went through 15 dewalt drill bits and about 50 dremel disks. But it came out shweeeet.

Now my question is, Does anyone or can someone send or post to me, the measurments for the lower rails. I would hate to buy the steel rails just to trash them after aquiring the measurment to make my stainless steel rails.

I'll post a pic of the receiver in a bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stainless Huh?  NICE!

I'd like to hear more about that.  Details PLEASE.

Square tubing, bent from flat sheet, etc???

Do you have to harden stainless steel like you do with the 4130 sheet steel? (don't think so)

Got any pics yet?

The stainless I used is from an old resturant oven. This stuff is strong. From what I understand, the SS used for this type of equip, goes through a procedure of heat treatments and other devices to add to the ridgitity of the metal.

Like I said B4, this stuff ate top grade dewalt bits like a dog eating cat food. I put the flat I made into my jig and put the bumper jack to it and it lifted my 91 bronco off the ground without bending the flat. (NOW THAT IS TOUGH)

I then had to take a wide flat dulled chisle and hammer my bend lines to start the bend. I'ts a good thing that happened because I forgot to do the top rails first. Did them the same way with chisle except made bends on the vise. Still need to clean it up with sand blast then have it powder coated. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v61/coboltan/SS3.jpg

WHY doesn't someone make laser cut SS flats? I could weld that as easly as mild or 4130 chrome molly!

Laser cut SS flats, would be quite expensive. Probally near as much as a milled receiver. Unless someone had a huge supply of scrap SS sheets. If I had a laser cutter........
