I have a Maadi that I like very much except that it shoot approx. 18 inches low at 100 yards. I have got the widage just about right but can not lower the front sight. I have broken 4 AK sight tools attempting to lower the blasted thing! I have left the whole area soaking in CLP over night but this does nothing. Any thoughts?

Can you unscrew the Front sight post to remove it from the FSB? Is it bottomed out when you are screwing it into the FSB? Where are you putting the slide adjustment on the rear sight? Do you have it on the P? I can't remember the term as I have been out of the Marines too long but I believe we battle zeroed our rifles at 25yd. I believe the P on the AK sight is sighted in at a similar range and you should move the rear sight forward when sighting in. The Front sight post would be for less micro adjustments. If so move it to the 100 meter notch since you are shooting at 100yds. As you move the rear sight slider forward it raises the rear sight which causes the front of the barrel to rise and the point of impact to rise. Instructions for sighting in an AK |

Peter556, I'm kind of in the same boat here. My Maadi's front post appears to be turned so as the two ends are facing 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock. and the whole post is slightly left-of center. At the range the other day, my shots were all left of target by about 2-3". I didn't know they made a tool to adjust this front sight, but I tried to move mine with a pair of needle-nose pliers and I can see why you broke 4 sight tools trying to adjust this thing... In my Maadi owners manual, there is no mention of this front sight, or how to adjust it at all. How do I get it straight and centered??? I took a couple of pics. They came out lousey, but you can get the idea... http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a378/tackmaster/100_1646.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a378/tackmaster/100_1654.jpg |

The tool for the front elevation comes in most cleaning kits available for a couple of dollars. For the side to side adjustment on the front sight try a C-Clamp, a small undersized socket from the side you will be pushing from and an over sized socket on the other side. Tighten the C-Clamp with the small socket pushing the front sight adjustment into the oversized socket. Try moving the camera back from the object you are taking the picture of so the camera can focus. Resize the pictures before posting and they may work better also. Can't see anything in those pictures so they are of no help. |

MAK, Yeah, sorry about the pics... My camera doesn't do extreme close ups. I'm placing an order with Tapco for their G2 FCG and I'm going to add an AK front sight tool to that order also. I see how the windage is acheived with this tool (or c-clamp method) but as far as elevation, is the front post supposed to be able to rotate??? I just want to know the normal motion of the parts before any force is applied... |
