A buddy of mine had an M85NP at the range yesterday that had lots of feed problems. Normally, AK mags sit so that the feed lips darn near touch the bottom of the receiver rails. The AR mag lips were about 1/8" down from them and the bolt BARELY touches the back of the cartridges in the magazine. This lead to several bolt-over failures and other failures to feed with a variety of magazines. Is this a common issue with these rifles?

Also, the adapter didn't allow the mags to drop free. Is this also normal?

Shame they couldn't work a LRBHO into the design.

I ask because despite the failures my fiancee wouldn't put the darn thing down and now she really wants one, but don't want to pick up another "project".

My M85NP feeds reliably with USGI, Pmags, and Lancers (all I have tried thus far).  All drop free as well.

Few more opinions here:  http://www.theakforum.net/forums/30-yugoslavian/177242-opinions-zastava-m85-np-ar-magwell.html

The mags dropping free seems to be a variable among individual NPs.  Some do, some don't.  I've seen the same in other threads here and on other forums.
