I was wondering if anyone knows what the largest scope objective diameter will fit on top of an AK using the MI side scope mount?  The one with the "built in" rings.  I have one of the MI side mounts that gives you the rail on top with a scope in a set of rings but would like to try their "all in one" side mount. I know normaly the rear sight leaf could play into it but this is for a Vepr with the intigrated front and rear sights, it makes the rear sight very low profile and it doesnt protrude rearward as much as compaired to the AK standard rear sight.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have one with a 1-4 CMR in it... The mount is very much designed for the 1-(low) x 24 style scope which tend to have a 'tube' diameter objective end. (e.g. 30mm)

There is plenty of clearance for that 30mm tube on that scope with a flip up end cap.

I'd roughly estimate you have at most 3/4" from the center of the scope to the top of the dust cover, but it has to be a pretty compact scope to fit and I'd be hard pressed to think of anything bigger than a 1-x that you could stuff into the available space.

What are you thinking of mounting?

The problem isn't clearance with the dust cover but rather the front sight block. Getting the proper eye relief and having enough clearance is going to be difficult with anything other than about a 24 or similar objective
