I have ~10 steel magazines and 5 rifles: 1 WASR, 2 built on NDS receivers, and 2 built from flats. Heres my "issues":

-All mags fit in the WASR and work fine.

-all mags fit in the NDS receivers and work fine, but sometimes after firing , it is tough to pull the mag back out. almost like the sides are too tight.

-on the flat builds, some mags fit and work fine, others don't.  The magazine latch sometimes is not able to close all the way.  It is also sometimes difficult to remove the magazines after firing, and the latch seems to get stuck. almost like the magazine is pushed backwards towards the latch.

so, where should I grind metal? on the magazine? on the receiver? on the top of the latch?

thanks for any help, and yes I know, I need more mags

Honestly - Every AK is different - something I've learned.

Personally, I PREFER that my NDS-3 receiver is tighter fitting so I don't have that annoying 'Mag Wobble' issue, and possibly problems with the bolt not stripping a round properly.  The mags can go in & out of the NDS3 just fine.  Yes, there's a little friction and it's tighter, but that's not necessarily a BAD thing.  I'd say leave your mags alone & don't grind them.  Same with the NDS-3 IMHO.

Don't create problems where there really aren't any.

Yeah - if the mags go in and out and work reliably, you're good.  If you fit the mags to the gun, they'll only be good for that gun, right?  If you are comfortable modding the guns, you could.  But, if they latch tightly, don't wobble, and come out (even with a little force), that would be fine with me.  I have that issue with AKs and ARs - some mags are tight in some receivers and fine in others, but they all go in and out.

Sounds to me like the NDS is fine, but the flat builds need work.  I have no idea how to do it, so hopefully, someone of intelligence on the issue will be along shortly.

It's impossible to tell without examining the rifle personally, but it sounds like the front trunnion and the trigger guard are too close together.
Did you test the magazine fit before you assembled the trunnion and guard to the bent flat?
I'd measure from the rear of the front trunnion (where the magazine locks in) to the magazine catch on all the rifles. If the distance on the flat builds is shorter than all the others, you MAY have to move the trigger guard to the rear.

Thanks for the help guys you confirmed my suspissions I think the NDS's are good, I'm probably just weak.

I'll measure the trunnion mag distances, when I have the time, but If anything, I think the answer is modding the flat-built rifles.  I might just rebuild one...I never liked it anyway...
