I have a romainian Ak 47 stamped receiver and I am having trouble with some mags not inserting. some mags slip right in with no trouble others almost wont go in (too tight on the sides) should I A) file the opening on the receiver.? B) file the sides of the affected mags? C)scrap the affected mags and stick with the ones that fit? I am leaning toward sanding/filing the affected mags. what is the cause and is this common in ak's? ![]() Thanks for the help. |

Is it a wasr? basically any of the above will work. Just don't remove very much from the mag-well. You don't want it to be loose on the mags that fit now. If it's a wasr inspect the magwell closely. Since they are often not ground quite right they often give this problem. Sometimes its just that the magwell isn't ground straight. |
magazines are cheaper to replace then a rifle Obviously.File the mags not the rifle, I did that once and never could get anything to really "match" the finish that was on the rifle. There is a difference between natural wear and somebody saying, "what did you do to your rifle?" |
