I have a romainian Ak 47 stamped receiver and I am having trouble with some mags not inserting.

some mags slip right in with no trouble others almost wont go in (too tight on the sides)

should I
A) file the opening on the receiver.?

B) file the sides of the affected mags?

C)scrap  the affected mags and stick with the ones that fit?

I am leaning toward sanding/filing the affected mags.

what is the cause and is this common in ak's?

Thanks for the help.

Is it a wasr?  basically any of the above will work. Just don't remove very much from the mag-well. You don't want it to be loose on the mags that fit now.

If it's a wasr inspect the magwell closely. Since they are often not ground quite right they often give this problem. Sometimes its just that the magwell isn't ground straight.

magazines are cheaper to replace then a rifleObviously.

File the mags not the rifle, I did that once and never could get anything to really "match" the finish that was on the rifle.

There is a difference between natural wear and somebody saying, "what did you do to your rifle?"

yes all stamped steel, but some german (these seem to work best ) the germans are used and show wear.

new mags are bulgarians and  have the most trouble.
