I have ONE problem AK mag.. rest work flawlessly. This one is used, but not nearly so much as my others..

I only have one AK, so it could just be my rifle..

Anyways, this is a Romanian steel 7.62x39 mag(I only have Romanian and Polish Synth).. what it is doing is when I insert into the gun, the bolt binds and won't even let me retract hardly at all(bolt just barrel unlocks from the trunion).

When I hold the bolt back and insert the mag, it won't close.

Any ideas as to what the problem is? All my other romanian ones(3) and my 2 Polish Synthetics work just fine.

well something's gotta be binding on the bolt. maybe the feedlips? but it seems that it'd be hard for that to happen because they're steel and the only way they'd bind is if they were bent or something. might want to take a look at the tabs that lock into the gun on the mag and compare it to all the other ones, make sure everything's the same and it isn't sitting askew or something.

hope you can figure it out

Is it possible that this one magazine just is seating too far up? Take the top cover off and see where it's hitting, if it's just barely scraping on the top of the magazine, and you don't mind doing work on it, shave a little off the top with a bench grinder. If it's just a bad magazine tinkering with it wont hurt. (or, if possible, try it in someone else's ak, even take it to the shop where you got yours and ask them if you can try it)

Got it!! pol_pot47, it was the right feed lip. It was too thick and was binding on the edge of the bolt. About 20 mins with a file followed by some polishing with the dremel it's as smooth as silk.
