I just picked up my first AK yesterday, anyway I've seen on YouTube many times that a rifle has 'zero' mag wobble, which is clearly an exaggeration because you can see just a touch of play, which I hear is a good thing.

Mine literally has absolutely zero wobble in any direction and some mags need a bit more persuasion than others. My one Tapco mag wouldn't even engage the locking mech without slight modification. Is this a bad thing? It's under warranty (Arsenal), just wondering if it will loosen a bit with use, also concerned if I send it in it'll come back with too much wobble.

Thoughts?

Not an issue. Shoot the hell out of it.

I'm an AR guy, this being my first AK I haven't gotten used to the fact that they aren't meant to be handled gently. Took me about 10 minutes to get the carrier back in because I was being too gentle.

The fact that it's $1000 rifle doesn't help either.

Don't base your mag well analysis on a tapco mag.

Figured I'd post an update, after about 100 practice reloads it's loosened up nicely. Really no wobble still but mags work great.

Mag tolerances vary between manufacturer. Some will fit tighter than others, but should still give you the same performance. I prefer combloc mags to US made ones. They are light years ahead in terms of durability and quality of construction.

That sounds like my WASR 10/63, surplus romanian steel mags fit like a glove with almost no side to side play while both my Tapco mags had to be sanded down to fit without forcing it. Not sure how much it will loosen up over time but I prefer a tighter fit as I use my mag as a grab point.
