| I met this guy at a post-Christmas dinner this evening with my family. Talk turned to firearms (obviously) and he asked me if I knew anyone who worked on AK variants, as he was having major problems. I asked about his problem and tried to get as much information as possible. Details are sketchy, but here they are. He bought a thumbhole-stocked 7.62 AK in the late nineties, unsure of country of origin. He was shooting some sort of surplus ammo that came in battlepacks. The rifled has fired flawlessly for many rounds until one day recently. The shell case expanded and stuck in the chamber. He said that the firing pin was stuck in the rear of the spent case and pulled completely out(?). He said that he tried to force the case out of the chamber by running a rod down the barrel from the muzzle end to no avail. He said it was like the case was welded in the chamber. So what exactly happened and what should he do to rectify the situation? Thanks! |
