1st off, no I can't post links. If I could I would have posted a link to the thread that got started in GD 2nd, I wanted to post this here to maybe drum up more interest so if somebody wants to make the link hot be my guest I just pre ordered one of these stocks and hope they turn out as good as they seem. I think the wood stock side folder for an SKS would be a killer look Here is the YT video about the stock... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4uQdj3Wh_8 |

Does he not know Samson is manufacturing Ruger's stock?I know I posted the link, but it doesn't show the video like yours does... And I was wondering the same thing about the folding mechanism. Ruger doesn't even make them anymore... Perhaps that will make it easier to acquire??? |

Buying an SKS M, which are typically higher priced than the regular SKS, and then adding an aftermarket folder to it for $250 more... So many M1917s & British Pattern 13 Enfields were sporterized that my late FIL was still making target rifles from those actions up until his death in 2022. There are still stripped SKS actions running around, and this stock makes sense if you buy a stripped action. Dropping an M into this folding stock just doesn't make a lot of sense - get the same functionality by buying a brand new AK folder. Unless you travel regularly to a ban state that somehow allows a folding stock and you're going to carry 21x 10 round steel AK mags for a standard load instead of just 21x loaded stripper clips. We decry "Bubba" "Tapco-fucking" his $99 SKS, but when SKSs were $99, adding functionality to the rifle made a LOT of sense - as did sporterizing every other cheap military surplus rifle that arrived on our shores for the last two centuries. Once x% of the remaining rifles are sporterized, then the remaining 100-x% original condition rifles begin to climb in price as collectibles as soon as the supply is cut off. The somewhat odd situation of the SKS is that it's still in production globally, but just not imported into the US at the moment - China is barred from importing them here & Serbia is not exporting theirs at the moment. Canada is still getting the Chinese SKS, and I think they can still own folding stocks, so this gadget makes a lot of sense there. |

The real problem is that an SKS isn’t a $150 rifle anymore, so the whole huge industry of making tactical parts for them is much smaller than 25 years ago. |

I have 4 or them that use AK mags. Perhaps on on some DIY versions it is attached to the stock??? |

As it currently sits, my SKS-M is in a Choate tele stock. A slight improvement over the Tapco tele stock made for the SKS, and the original butthole stock it came with... Didn't know it was anything special; seems like common sense. Well I have a different opinion about the issue. Especially with this stock. It is NOT just a plastic Tapco bubba mod. First and foremost, I say do whatever you want in regards to your own guns. But I do wonder sometimes about the bubba'd up SKS, and honestly, I scratch my head when I see an optic or rail on an AK for that matter...WHY? But if you want a folder on your SKS, or an optic on your AK, then go for it. In my case, I have about 20 AKs in just about every configuration. No optics, no rails. I have several SKSs that all take AK mags, and one chinese SKS with fixed 10 rnd mag This new folder, on one of my 16" length SKSs coupled with the detachable AK mag will make for a unique and functional version of the SKS, of which I already have several in their original form. I am excited to get it and all put together... |

I still say modding is a cardinal sin, but at least it's not a tapcomod. All of that said (notwithstanding)...how does it shoot? I had a factory folder Mini-14, and it was uncomfortable as hell. Seemed impossible to get a good cheek weld without rattling the eff out of my teeth. I had a similar problem with a Polytech pre-89 side folder. It looked cool as shit, but just was not pleasant to shoot. |
