I accidently posted this twice does anybody know how to delete it? Excuse my ignorance.
I am having some trouble with my Mini Draco cycling properly and am wondering if others have had issues and if so how did you fix it? Set up is as is out of the box with Bulgarian Waffle mags, original supplied mag, and romanian drum. Ammo used: Tula and Golden Tiger. Issues varied but mostly pointed toward short stroking (undergassed maybe). I have done some slight polishing where the bolt hits the rounds on its way backward as it was hitting them with a sharp edge (more so than my regular Draco) and have added a Noveske KX3 in hopes of creating more pressure or delaying the full release of the back pressure. Any information would be greatly apreciated as ive searched high and low and am amazed at all the problems people report with the Mini Draco but have not found one solution. Thank you all in advance for your time. |

Mine runs fine with an A2 brake.
Recoil spring? Is the recoil buffer installed correctly? Does the gas tube seem loose? I wonder if a MI rail/gas tube would change anything? Tried different kinds of ammo? (Although both kinds mentioned above should be fine) Mags- your above mentioned mags should be fine? If its not one of the above, then it has to be binding up somewhere and losing bolt speed? Just thinking outloud...... |
| Thanks for the ideas. Gas tube is a very nice fit. I would love to do the MI forend however dont want to put money into it until it fuctions properly. As far as binding it does seem abnormally tight when bolt moves rearward over the magazine/cartridges as mentioned above. Thank you for your input I hope to get more. |

Is it tight when manually cycling it with no mag in place ? Try loading one round and then remove the mag and fire it. Does it cycle all the way. Plus one on the sling. It could simply be an issue with shooting it pistol style and absorbing some of the inertia and messing up the recoil. If you don't have a sling, shoot it off something solid, like your hip, etc... :) |

Mine was dragging on the cover, seen a lot of wear marks on the bolt.
When the bolt is pulled back see where it hangs up (causing drag) file the the top cover until no more drag. When all done any where you have filed, if that is the problem, can be covered with cold blue (from walmart) blends in well the finish. Also greasing the the rails with a new AK (any where that slides seems to help with new guns) |
| No cover drag. The only abnormal drag I get is where the bolt meets the cartridges as it travels rearward and that drag is normal for an AK type weapon but seems excessive on this gun which is why ive done a little stoning in that area. Greased it is. I will try holding it with authority on my next outing however I was probably holding it firmly the first time out. I will look into sling mount options as it has no sling nor sling point on the rear. Whats proven to be a good sling point option for the rear of these Minis? Thanks again for all your replies.. |

Get on it! Seriously- push it out against the sling and hold tight. Limp wrist jams them. I tend to agree with this. There were many times I thought I was holding my Mini tight enough and was not. When I would go to shoot it from the hip the jams/cycling issues would happen more frequently than holding it out tight in front of me. |
| The buffer/spacer/block or whatever we want to call it is there. Are you certain that its Delrin? I only ask because if I where to be certain of the material I think id make a new one that fit more snugly but I would hate to spend the time making it out of a material that wouldnt stand up to the abuse. Thanks for the thought. I hope to test this thing again this weekend and will give a range report. So far the only differences between the first failed attempt and my planned attempt are as follows: X-tra greasy (dont worry its thin grease), radiused and polished corners on bottom of bolt where it rides over the cartridges, Noveske KX3 (R.I.P. John), and plans to hold it like less of a sissy girl. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thank you all again for your input. |

Hold it with both hands on the pistol grip, like a regular pistol. Have you noticed how it tends to rock when you hold the handguard with your support hand? The energy that is rocking it is energy that could be cycling the weapon, but is lost in the rocking motion. You may find that you will hit more consistently as well.... and look like a badass while doing it |

Thanks for the input everyone. I shot my Mini today with great success. 240 rounds with out any issues other than that I am 240 rounds short on ammo. I used Golden Tiger ammo, Bulgarian waffle mags, unidentified steel mags, and the Noveske KX3. The only modifications to the gun was the radiusing of the two points on the bottom of the bolt that contact the top round in the magazine during rearward movement of the bolt. Happy shooting and thanks again for your replies.
