I can't tell if the muzzle nut on my Poly post-ban is actually screwed in or not?  Does anyone know if muzzle nuts are threaded or if they are 'smooth walled' and just slipped over the threads then welded in place?

I'm planning on Dremelling off the welds and screwing on a break come Sept.  It already has 6 U.S. parts.

Can you see a tack weld?  If so, the threads are under there.  You said Chinese, and my observations of Chinese guns is that either there is a cap over threads, or the threads were lathe tuned off (no nut & diameter appears strangely small) .

Get that dremmel out!

I definitely see the welds.  I guess my question is whether or not the threads are damaged or not.  I guess I'll only know when I take it off.  I'm just not sure from looking at it if the nut itself is threaded thus making damage to the threads much less likely.  I intentionally picked a rifle that had the required 3 X 60 degree welds, rather than welded all around, to make it easier to take off.  My original intention was to screw on, then weld on a break, but I think time is running out and that won't be necessary.

I was going to order a slant and AK-74-style break from Global Trades.  Any other places I should look?
