I just got a WASR and was wondering about the muzzle brake. It has and indented ring around it diameter into which a little pins head (sort of) that sticking out of the FSB fits into. Are there threads under the muzzle brake, and if there are how hard is it to change it to a flash hider? Thanks.

What do you have on there now? Do you already have a muzzle brake or just a muzzle nut? I think you have your terminology all confused. Either way it's not hard at all, just different method. How about a pic?

If it is a slant brake, etc you can probably push the detent in and turn the brake off in a clockwise direction.

Thanks guys. The detent pushes right in, but the brake is to tight to turn by hand. I'll try a wrench or something later. Thanks.

Keep in mind that is a LEFT hand thread. So "righty tighty, lefty loosy" doesnt work. Try turning it clockwise before getting a wrench on it. If you are already turning the correct direction,I apologize. Just hate to see you bugger up the muzzle brake.

You do realize that the muzzlenut might be welded on. You will need a dremel to cut the weld and then use a set of visegrips to break the remnants of the weld.
