I am looking for a AK muzzle device, no holes, slots or any of the above. Like a long muzzle nut. A 1-2 inch threaded muzzle pipe i guess. Seems as my AK and AR is lounder then some people at the range like, as we are under a shed. Couple of guys bring kids and they have commented how loud it is, no real complaints. We all have hearing protection on. Some guys on the AR side helped me find some for the AR but AK looks like its harder to come by.
I have the standard 14 left with a detent slant on it.
Was thinking about a Krink Type. Are they quieter for the shooter and guy in the next lane?
Thanks Guys.

CNC Warrior makes a 4" threaded extension. Doubt it will make much difference, though.

Longer than 4" though

People complaining of noise at a range what is this world coming to?  Next they'll say the target is getting full of holes

I think I still have the "muzzle nut/thread protector" I took off my Norinco when I converted it for 922r. It's about 2" long.

If you want it you can have it. I won't be able to check until tomorrow if I still have it though. IM me if you're interested and I'll get back to you if I have it.

Anything you can put on the end of a firearm that will reduce the noise level significantly requires a $200 tax stamp.
The people complaining ought to kick in and buy the stamp for you ... or buy themselves some effective hearing protection.

complain of noise eh?

get em one of these

honstly though, I dont think I've ever seen someone complain/make comments about noise levels at a range to the point of pushing someone to change their weapon to remove muzzle devices. bad form imho. guns can be loud. it's part of the world. larger bullets with more bang behind them always will. just part of the hobby. its like having a horse and trying to find a way to avoid the poop piles- just don't happen.

in response to the 2 above posts completely agreed

the reality.. there is a controlled burn inside a tubular object.. noise is the result.

an extension will do little to nothing except allow the power to burn in the extended chamber.. side effect = noise as well.

not busting your chops but, what your asking for is what would be classified as a sound suppressor according to the BATF i suspect.

when im at the range and someone is shooting a 50 or 454 i respectfully bow out and watch.

sounds like a snotty range to me.  what happens when a deer hunter brings a 300 win mag?

If you can get the muzzle out past the shed it'll be a lot quieter.  My Bushmaster used to have one of their AK muzzle brakes that was almost painful to shoot under the shed so I can relate.  As soon as the ban expired I had a Phantom pinned on it and that helped.  :)  You could always get one of those multi-piece Krink style blast director things (whatever they're called).

I had a lady complain to the RO that my Mauser was too loud and that it was scaring her, the RO instructed her to move, she set up right next to me as I was inserting a clip into the rifle, she gave me the face when i fired, then walked over to report me.

i had no clue until she left, the RO came over to me laughing telling me what happened, I was like ... its a shooting range, I can remember someone shooting a .50 and scaring the hell out of me, I got up and went closer and was like this

You may try something like a 4 piece Bulgy booster.  Like this

It is intended to boost the gas pressure on short barreled Krinks and such.

It's "beer can" type design does seem to help direct the sound more downrange.

It doesn't make it any quieter, but directs the blast more downrange and less to the sides and rear like most brakes do.  This should help reduce the perceived noise.  Kinda like turning a blaring speaker away from you.  It's still loud, it's just not blasting right at you.

I have no first hand experience with this device, but it also claims to direct sound downrange.  http://primaryweapons.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=250&idcategory=6

That Bulgarian soup can may help, but really if people complain about loudness at a gun range, they need to get a different hobby.  No different than going to the drag strip and bitching about someones car with open headers...  If you can't tolerate it, then you don't belong here.  I hope you don't buy an expensive attachment to try to please people like that.  Think about... the kind of person who complains about noise at a gun range is an idiot.  There is no pleasing or satisfying a person like that.

Sorry maybe i was not clear there are No real complaints, just noticed the kids commenting. Probably only two instances. This whole idea probably started from delerium induced by trimming brass for hours on end. And noticed both the AR and AK are louder than lets say my 308 or 270. Im sure mostly artibuted to gas = sound comming from the ports or the slant. Hey no big deal lets face it not like i hate buying gun accessories. if i can get more of the sound down range and make it more pleasant for everyone including me. We are under a roof.
I would love to get a suppressor. Its on the list.
Yea you should see the guy that shoots his 444 marlin crack barrel with the muzzle brake on it. Best part is no hearing protection. I have offered him ear plugs but he says it doesnt bother him. When something like that is being fired i wear both plugs and muffs.
I also posted a similar thread on the AR15 side for it and got some good replies. think my choices are the Troy Claymore and the Levang.

Having done a few tactical courses I can tell you that being next to an AK with the muzzle brake on it for a few days starts to hurt your head. It isn't the noise it is the muzzle blast that gets people I think.

Is it possible to get the muzzle outside the shed––like move your firing position forward a few feet?  That's what I do at my covered range.

You (and everyone else) should really be wearing plugs and muffs everytime you shoot.
