I've got a romak that was butchered pretty well during the ban. The muzzle was turned down so much that cutting new threads are out of the question. I've been looking at bulgarian threaded front sight bases (24x1.5 RH threads I think) and wondering if they would fit on a Romanian 7.62 barrel. If so I know it would be an extensive change considering the fsb on the rifle now is pinned on the top and the bulgarian fsbs are pinned on the bottom. Also I would have to enlarge the bore of a muzzle brake made for that fsb to accommodate the 7.62 round.
I guess what I'm asking is... is this possible, has anyone else done this, are there any other solutions, and do any of you have some constructive input on this subject. |

I know they are slightly larger than the 5.45 rifles bbl. I'm almost positive the 7.62 rifles are larger in diameter at the muzzle due to the normal 14mm threads on unmolested Romy 7.62s. You might try reaming out the Bulgy FSB to fit. or you could try contacting Dinzag and see if he can do a custom adapter for your barrel to thread pitch of your choice. 24mm should be easily doable. If your barrel is smaller than 1/2" 14mm might be even possible, but it depends on just what size your muzzle is.

Got in touch with dinzag arms. Sent him the exact measurements to see what he has to say.
The measurements are: Muzzle OD: 0.502" Barrel OD behind FSB: 0.581" Length of muzzle beyond FSB: 0.851" EDIT: Looks like I'll be picking up a threading kit and doing the barrel in 1/2-28RH and putting a slant brake on it. EDIT: Ordered the threading kit and a slant brake today. |
