Here's some pics of the Yugo M70 UF I recently put together.  It has a good/very good bore... not a mirror but very clean with nice lands and grooves.  NDS-4 receiver.  I'm happy!  It cost me approx $340 for the build (kit, compliance parts, rivets, receiver, finish, etc).

Seen this on Survivors board and is still a pleasure to look at. If you lived in the Louisville area, I'd be selling my CAI built and having you build me one.

Tapeo1- excellent build (as usual). Did you do anything to the wood?

Thanks Longhunter.

Yeah, I refinished the wood as best I could.  I did the wood over a year ago so I don't remember exactly what I did.  I think I soaked it for awhile in hot water with a little bit of bleach... mainly to raise the dents.  I'm pretty sure I used a combination of minwax red mahogony and dark walnut stain and used several coats of tung oil.  It turned out pretty well, I think.  I'm considering buying a new set of handguards for it when Ironwood designs starts selling them... which should be later next week or so I'm told.  We'll see.

Ironwood has got some pic of their new Yugo stocks shown on their website now.  No pics of the handguards but I would imagine that they'll look as nice as the buttstocks they have shown.  Here's one of their pics of the Yugo buttstock...

How did you refinish the metal, it looks great!  Also how did you do your rivets?  Awesome build, I hope mine look that good.

Man, just my $0.02, but I would save my money. Those look good, but yet have an aged look. People work to get their new handguards to have that look.

- I am kicking myself in the butt for not picking up on of those kits back when they were $110.

I refinished the metal by sandblasting with aluminum oxide, parkerizing with a homemade solution and then applying black semi-gloss MolyResin with an airbrush.

For the short rivets on the front and rear trunion, I used my rivet squeezers that I made myself with $8 or $9 Harbor Freight 24" boltcutters and a $15 Harbor Freight angle grinder to shape the jaws.  I posted how I did it over in the Build It Yourself thread with some pics...  www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=51&t=91275

Longhunter, yeah, I wish I had picked up a few more of these Yugo kits too.  I actually paid $150 private party but was guaranteed a good/very good barrel.

My local guy has yugo underfolder and solid stock kits for $150, but he does not think that the barrels are very good.

What are your compliance parts (i am not part of the compliance police, just wondering).

The compliance parts are the PG (I lightly blasted it and applied molyresin to it too), the G2 FCG, the NDS-4 receiver and the slant muzzle brake.

It's really hard to tell how good the barrels are until they are throughly cleaned and doing that can be rather time consuming although an electric bore cleaner helps speed that up.  When they're dirty, which most are, they look like complete garbage... and a lot of them are.

BTW, it looks like Centerfire Systems still has virgin Yugo M70 barrels for $80.  Hmmm... I may have to get me one of them.

Is that the PG that Copes is selling?

I really don't know.  Could be.  I didn't buy it from them though.  I got it from some guy that was selling them on the EE awhile back... about a year ago or so.  It says USA on the inside of the grip where it meets the trigger guard.  Those ones on Copes look pretty good.  Lightly blasting it and applying a coat of molyresin to it (it didn't melt at 300F) really made it come out nice.
