From what i have gathered early NPAP has a single stack bolt and comparison with pictures i cant quite figure out if mine is an early gen or not? unless there are other differences.

Ok got it, reason im asking is because i was getting failure to feeds right out of the box, although towards the end of my day shooting it started occurring less and less so i dont know if thats a normal "phase" or not but im going to have a gunsmith look at it tomorrow. Any thoughts ?

Did you try a few different mags?  Only time I've seen failure to feed on an AK it was a mag issue.  The guy I was with only brought 1 mag so he thought his gun wasn't working, next time we went we took several and figured out it was a bad mag.

I was using two tapco mags and both were giving me trouble towards the beginning. Im having my gun smith polish a few things on the inside to get it running a little smoother since its a new gun and a but tight. Probably would of worn in from shooting a few hundred more rounds but i just want to make sure its defective.

those tapco mags suck... you should try some bulgarians or yugoslavian surplus ones. at some point PSA had them on sale for $ 15 each, I got 4. no issues

by the way, I have an N-PAP w/serial in the 6,000's, mine came with double stack bolt, just like yours, and proper work in the receiver and grunion. I love it, and just got a Bumpski stock for it

Yeah i took mine out just to see how it runs and i realized when i got home how accurate it was. Can't wait to pick it up from the gun smith and run some rounds through for some proper wear in.
I dont think the people at the rang likes hot steel brass ejecting like 20 feet to the right at them haha, i felt bad.

Your bolt is a double stack bolt. The N-PAPs never had a single stack bolt. This has been covered before but I mention it again.

The first Serb rifles in the PAP series was PAP. It came with a railed top cover and a single stack bolt.
Next to be imported was the N-PAP and O-PAP. Both of these rifles had the correct M70 AKM double stack bolt.

Most gunsmiths don't know anything about an AK and will bubba it for you with a quickness if you let them work on it.

It makes sense i understand now. The gunsmith i took it has been working on ak's longer than i have been alive. I dont understand how anyone would take their rifle to an average joe?
He's not rebuilding the internals, just polishing a few surfaces that would later wear down anyways.

Question for you Citizen: Does the fact that they come with a double stack bolt mean they are all ready to go for a double stack magazine, or do they still need ramp and side work? Thank you.

They all have ramp and side work done by century when they get here, it's just that with PAPs they didnt bother changing the bolt out. However the NPAPS they finally decided to put the proper bolt in.
