I just bought a wasr-10. I took it to the range today. It feed flawless and the accuracy was great. The only issue is this- When fired the safety lever pin is popping out on the left side of the rifle and hitting the bottom of the bolt causing the bolt to catch at the rear position. It is almost like the frame is flexing when fired. The  safety lever pin doesn't pop out when the bolt is worked by hand. Only when fired. Could someone please help- I am a newbie to the AK platform.

Thanks for the help,

Cigarlover

I don't understand what you mean by "safety pin".
Do you mean that the safety is moving to the right until the left side is no longer in the hole in the receiver?

Yes

Thats is exactly what it is doing. Just enough to come out of the hole on the left side of the frame. Then the spring pushes it up against the bottom of the bolt.

take it back to where you purchased it...send it back to Century and have them fix it...or give you another one...alot here don't like the WASR for the bad quality control from Century.

Mine failed to feed every other round when I first got it. I sent it back to Century and they took a little over a month to send a new one.

Did you get the shop you purchased it from to send it- or did you send it yourself ?

Are you sure that the safety is properly installed?

When it is in correctly the inside of the safety lever should be tight to the outside of the right side of the receiver.
The left end of the safety should protrude slightly from the left side of the receiver.
(Look in the clearance cut on the optic mount.)

One more thing. What spring is contacting the safety?

The lever slightly protrudes from the receiver/ but really more flush than protrudes. but when it popped out- it took a screwdriver to push it back down and in. It actually snapped when push down and back into receiver hole. It seemed like it really seated well in the hole. the spring wraps around the left end of lever then extends to botom of receiver. I read a trouble shooting forum about the trunion being back too far causing the boltt to move too far back causing the bolt to come off the rails. The forum said a 1/4" buffer stopped this from happening. It just doesn't seem right that a weapon would need this to function. My bolt also seems to hang at rear. I read this is normal , but also read about bolts hanging on hammer and having to file down the hammer for better clearance. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again

There shouldn't be a spring wrapped around the end of the safety lever.
IM inbound.

ETA: It sounds like someone has installed a Chinese trigger and hammer pin               retainer in your rifle.
      Was the rifle new?

Yes - brand new from century arms. It has the G2 trigger installed. The spring is at the left side of lever pin just inside the receiver and extends down to the channel of the pin that holds the trigger in place. also- when I cycle the bolt with the rifle standing up right. muzle up with butt down- the bolt sticks in the rear and will not close. It will not close until I point it at the ground and pull the bolt all the way back and let go. I read that some AK's will have the bolt jump the rails at the rear most position - and to install a buffer to remedy this- Have you heard of this issue ?

thanks for the help, I'll most likely send it back to CAI- since I just bought it and still under waranty. Out of all my weapons- this will be the first issue I've ever had. Thats a pretty good run.

The bolt "sticking" to the rear is common on new AKs.
Check your IMs before you send it back.
