I'm glad someone liked it, I am proud to own one.
Took me 3 years to save up and find a NIB pre-ban sample that has no optic mount.
Some pics of the rifle while I was oiling it.

Not shooting that one, it's way too precious to me.
I have my older used Mitchell Yugo that I shoot.

They were the crutch kits that were available last year. Romanian barrels ans NDS-1 receivers.

Nice! I love the saiga.

You should get a spare HG and chop the front off square to take away from the sporter look some.

I don't have a pic of the rifle HG I did but here is the saiga 12 one chopped square

Have you tried the wood stock on it yet?

That looks good, are you gonna do the full front end conversion? I just finished my third one, it gets easier, but damn it's still a PITA. How do you like the grip? I've got a few of the MD arms version and they're comfortable as all get out. Again, nice looking rifle.

I just finished reading through all 124 pages of this thread....
There are some GORGEOUS AK's here in this thread. I've found all sorts of new places to look for parts and upgrades etc for my new (to me) Yugo M70....

Got it with everything shown in the picture for $550 from one of the guys I work with who is thinning out his gun safe.
480 rds ammo
13 magazines total
7 Yugo bolt hold open mags
2 standard non BHO mags
3 Tapco (range) mags
1 Five round mag
The (what I now know to be a), incorrect Polish Bayonet
Cleaning kit, oiler, and mag pouch.

According to the previous owner, it only had a few hundred rounds through it and it shot well using irons at 100 yds. He takes good care of his stuff, so I don't doubt it.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. What with all the panic, I cant afford to replace any ammo I use, cause I cant find any.

I'd like to do some things to it eventually....

I want to put a red dot sight on the gun, a VFG, and a flash light. I do have a "spare" Burris Fast Fire III (3 MOA) that I'd like to use since I already have it, but I've heard that they don't take heat very well...can anyone confirm this?

Tech sight diasssembly is no problem, just one more step than a regular AK. (well worth it) you can skip the sampson not worth the expense.

Hows the Burris Fast Fire working for you on your AK?
Seems a little high up, but I would imagine that helps insulate it from the heat better?

Just got this email from Burris:

Hi MaxxII

The temperature is 120 degrees. In extreme heat use the sunshade and it will work to keep the temperature down.

Subject: Fast Fire 3 temp question?

Hello,
I have a FF3 I'd like to mount on an AK47 with a Midwest Industries railed hand guard.I have read on one of the gun forums that the Fast Fire red dot sights don't handle elevated temperature's very well.
Naturally, the person posting this did not produce any sort of link or other suitable verification regarding this statement. Could you please tell me what the operating temperature range that the FF3 can handle so I can determine if this will work for my rifle? I hope it does just fine, because it would be perfect for my needs.

Thanks for your time.

MaxxII

Hmmm......Now I'm wondering if it will be an issue.

It's an Insight MRDS but its not too bad.  It does sit up a bit high with the mount and hood installed so it doesn't cowitness with the irons.  The way I have the stock set up it is up as high as possible so I can still get some what of a cheekweld when using it.  I haven't had any issues with heat and it so far.  I have been thinking of switching over to the attero arms alpha mount if they over come back in stock

If there is a reason rifles must go, AR's go first.

AK's are one of those, limited time deals I've learned in terms of availability.
