Beautiful and traditional. The way it should be.

Yugo Under folder, Leaving this one rude and crude just like it is except trying to find a Yugo Bakelite pistol grip for it to get it back to its original stardome :)

Hate to tell you this, but that's not a Yugo.  As said above Romanian WASR underfolder.  Now go find yourself a Romanian plastic grip.

Edit:  It is a Yugo magazine though.

Ideally you support a Dragunov with your left hand supporting the underside of the mag, not on the handguards.Russian snipers are taught this method so as not to upset the harmonics of the barrel :)

Interesting. I would have thought that "Tea Cupping" a rifle with a barrel as long as a Dragunov's would be difficult and unwieldy.

Despite the long barrel they are nicely balanced and a full length Dragunov is actually lighter than the shorter SVDS para version.I have a SVDS to which I fitted wooden handguards to, on a Dragunov the handguards sit on a spring in the retainer at the receiver end.The wooden handguards are slightly longer than the polymer ones and on fitting they completely compress the spring and put the handguards into tension which in turn puts pressure on the barrel. This caused my groups to open out, and once I put the "floating" polymer ones back on the groups instantly closed back up.

how much does it really upset the accuracy?  if he's engaging a target around 300meters will it matter? does barrel harmonics come more into effect further out?  anybody run any tests?

That's a nice looking handguard. I kinda imagine you'd have to go with their dust cover, with it's rear sight too. It's a damned nice looking rifle.

You're right. If I were shooting for tight groups I wouldn't be shooting in the kneeling grabbing far out on the handguards either. I'd be in the prone for that. Since I was home on leave and it was the first time in 8 months I get to shoot the Tigr I was just bs'ing around. Not sure what my groups would be but I was hitting target every shot and that's all that matter right ?

That is true. But I wasn't delivering shot on human target; I was shooting at 6" paper plates about 150m away and pretty sure if I can hit those then head/chest areas can't be that much harder right?

Sweet Vetterlis up there on the top.  My dad (now deceased) picked up an 1869 Vetterli under a boulder in Germany as a kid when his dad was stationed there and brought it back ... I remember playing with it when *I* was a kid.  The sound it made when you cycled the bolt and the ejection mechanism popped up was just so cool.
