My first AK, and the first set of crappy pics. Plan on refinishing the wood and cleaning up the metal when I get a chance.

WASR 10/63

With the spare mag, sheath and bayonet

With the bayonet attached

Nothing exciting compared to some of the others I've seen in this thread. But it's my first ... and it's mine

I think that brake looks good. It would look good with one of the AIMR flash suppressors on it too.

'01 SAR-1 I picked up a couple of weeks ago.  Just refinish the wood. The buttstock had an ugly orange tint... That had to go.

M65 with a couple of grips that I refinished. I put them next to the original Romy wood to show someone how close they were to original color.

Thanks Tipsovr! Gun shots great. My Son has yet to shoot it though but really likes it. Hope all is well

Sorry about the orange stock comment but it didn't match at all. That's the way some SAR's were from what I read. Glad you like the new look

My WASR. I refinished it with Alumahyde II in Dark Parkerizing grey.

Im not sure I like the color but it took a lot of hard work to refinish, so it wont be changing anytime soon.

That color definitley doesn't look bad at all, I'd leave it alone if I were you

Ended up getting some Ergo Flat Dark Earth rail covers.  I like them better than the fat black M&M ones the rifle came with,

I bought this SAR-3 brand new back in 2001. Before ever firing it, I replaced the factory trigger assembly with the Red Star Arms fire control group and properly configured hammer.  Next, I bought an original Romanian threaded 22mm front sight base and a US-made copy of the Romanian muzzlebrake by AK-USA. I sent the rifle, the fire control group, and the other parts to Troy at InRange in Kodak, Tennessee. Troy installed everything and then parkerized and painted the rifle. I don't think anyone interested in AKs can question the high quality of Troy's work. The finish is smooth, even, and looks phenomenal, especially compared to other AKs.

I decided that I wanted the rifle to have the looks of a Russian AK-74, but at the time, there was virtually no way to do so without getting laminated wood from Russia. So I got laminated wood from Russia.  After the set arrived from Russia in the original wax paper and everything, I sent it to a guy I knew from one of the gun forums (Z_Recto) who was well known to do awesome refinishes. He refinished all of the wood and then also created a US-made copy of the laminated pistol grip for 922r compliance.  Everything else is Russian.

All in all, it's been a good rifle but seen fairly little use.  I've had a couple other SAR-3s which were shooters, including one that's nearly identical, and this one stayed in the safe after about 500 rounds of function testing.

Just added the Timbersmith Russian red. Not that happy with it but until I get a nice set of wood to refinish exactly how I want, this will do!

Well the Timbersmith Premium Russian Red was....well...........too Red for my taste so I ended up using a modified Scarlet Red RIT die/Red Mahogany stain refinish on the original stock set it came with.

Did a bolt polish with De-Bluing compound 1st and a dremel with Flitz. Took all of 20 min. Granted, you can't see your reflection in it but it's nicely "in the white".

My freshly converted from a fixed stock to an underfolder WASR 10/63. My front trunion is dated 1977, the stock was a vet bring back from an Iraqi army battlefield pickup. Lots of work went into the conversion. It was so worth it though. My total expense was $10 worth of rivets from Brownells...
