I don't get how you can eat a hotdog that big, i couldn't eat half that behemoth. I only eat Sonic once every few months because the closest one is over an hour from my house. Go big or go home! I won't eat anything all day in anticipation of my foot long cheese coney. |

| I plan to slap a CMR 762 scope on it and hit the 500 yard range this weekend. Given the accuracy I've seen so far this rifle should do pretty good. I know I'm at the limits of the round at that range which makes it even more interesting. I'll take a few pot shots at the 3ft ringer on the 1000 yard line too. |

Now just wait for all of the threads like when the 101S came out:
"How do I put an M4 stock on this?" "Do they make any tactical stocks for these?" "Can I just cut the tube stock off and put on an M4 stock?" "I can't believe no one has come out with an M4 stock for this yet." "I'm just going to cut off the stock and glue a buffer tube on. Tactical as fuck."
|
| Definitely a game changer...it is not. From my SLR95 to the latest milled bulgarian x39 AK, there has not been anything that needed changing or improvements (my SLR95's accuracy matches this gun). If there were a need for west-friendly ak safety selection, krebs finger indexing safety lever fixed it. Now there's a grip you can't change (yet) with an awkward lever to satisfy the AR loving Murican's need. The side folder addition to what is just another $1k milled receiver gun rightfully puts this AK at $1300. A game changer? HET! or in Bulgarian, HE! |

| MAC, have you done a recoil test without the 7.62x39mm muzzle brake? I have one from way back when they came out in 2005-06 years, and it came with the Egg Masher style Bulgarian flash hider/supressor/whatever, and my shoulder took serious punishment from the metal stock and recoil, just wondering because I've been asking around here for a good muzzle brake in 7.62 for 24mm threads |

Thanks for the video! I like these rifles, always have but not sure I will get one. I do like the ambi safeties. I actually picked up a set to put into a stamped gun one day. The intro price is competitive and reasonable. They should keep it there. My other preference would be that the stock folded from the receiver and not an extension.
It is a unique 'factory' offering, but still no game changer. |

No shit, I own lots of 7.62 AK's, but the metal stock in the shoulder isn't comfortable after about 400 rounds, plus I'd like some follow up shots |

I know, right? I'm waiting for the thread on the other side of the house to crop-up claiming there's no 7.62x39 AK on the planet that can shoot such groups. Quoted:

Great video. Sweet rifle. Huge case of over-hype-itis by Arsenal. +1 I have an Arsenal SAM7K pistol that I like a lot. Arsenal makes great products--they do not need to hype anything. MAC: Thanks for another nice review. I particularly liked the fact that you pointed out the lack of interference between the folding stock and the optics rail and demonstrated that the gun can be fired with the stock folded. Also, that left handed charge is a slick move. Not sure I can do it without a good bit of practice, but it's a slick move. I know this is getting picky, but I'm curious. With the stock folded, how well does the gun lay on each side? |
|
Great review, Thank you.
I noticed in the video that you didn't appear to have any trouble getting the side scope mount by RS Regulate on past the rear sling swivel, despite what had been posted here by others. Did you have to "break it in" was it as easy to get the scope mount on as it appeared in the video? |
|
Great video as always, and kudos for the beard in this muggy Indiana summer Like others have said not the "game changer". I got the email and it had a angle like creature bringing the rifle down from heaven or something . Really ? They hype up this hammer forged milled receiver and how strong it is and how long it will last but how many stamped AKM's have you worn out or damage. Heck, in Asskrackastan the AKM's are 30+ years old with bore almost shot smooth and they still hold up, so this whole hammer forged milled, better than milled bar stock hype is a moot point to the American shooter. Don't get me wrong, nice well built rifle, but over engineered and a bit high priced for me. |

Btw, I ordered this gun.. How many mag's came with it? I don't see Arsenal or reseller displaying any info on what the gun comes with. I have plenty of AK mags, but can always use more quality ones. All the Arsenal rifles I've bought came with one mag. Usually a ten rounder weeeeee haha |

Aside from the obvious differences, isn't the core of this rifle the same as an SA93 or a SLR101? I don't know if those older rifles had forged receivers but IIRC the SA93 did have a styer chrome lined barrel. Can anyone chime in and add some stats? The SA93 is a true Type 3 clone. So it has a heavier barrel and a 45 degree gas block. SLR101 is a bit of a hybrid. Type 3 receiver, AKM profile barrel, 90 degree gas block and I think it has the bigger AK47 type FSB. This SAM7SF is like a SLR101 with the folding stock and an AK74 FSB. Thumb safety too. There are probably more differences I'm missing, but when you get down to the details they are all pretty different. |

To me, the two most desireable full-size Bulgarian milled AK's to own would be a properly converted SA93 (traditional Type 3) with correct wood or bakelite furniture and this new SAM7SF (modern military setup) However, any factory built milled Bulgarian AK, with a Made-in-Bulgaria receiver is a gem. |

I bit and placed an order with K-Var for intro price. I had one of the originals when they were first introduced and paid $1350 back then as well. Sold it a few years later to fund something else and regretted it. Happy to replace it for same price. Worth noting that K-Var was Johnny on the spot with shipping. Paid after hours and had a a UPS tracking number the next morning. Rifle arrives this coming week. UD
