I am somewhat of a nooby to the AK's so hopefully this isn't a stupid question. I have a chance to purchase a Norinco underfolder. I know little about this rifle, if I recall correctly it was a 56 or 56s on it and I beleive that the 56 was inside a triangle. Don't quote me in that though. The big question is how do I know if this is a preban rifle, is there anything that I should be looking for to make sure? What stood out on it was that it didn't have a slant break on it, it had more like a bird cage break on it. The gun dealer says it is a preban but you can't ever tell these days. It is an underfolder and not a sidefolder. Also the price is $425.00. So what should I be looking for to ensure that it is a preban? And is the price a good one for it. Overall the wood is probably 80% and the metal is 90%. Any help would be appreciated. |

...your lucky day! mywebpages.comcast.net/jfreeman246/page_2.htm....check this out to see if it looks like a postban...... a couple red flags are raised... 1 PRICE....a preban 56s-1 should be in the 900 range. 2.Does it have a bayo lug? 3.Does it look like the muzzlenut was every welded on? 4.Is the trunions marked 1 56s-1? These were postban guns that had fixed stock, but the receivers were drilled for a folder....man were converted. This was ok... IF the folder is fixed open, if not it is contraban. 5. On the rear of the rear trunion, does it look like it has been altered? Look at the top, and see if at one time did it have a tab for a fixed stock. EXAMPLE postban trunion markings
