I have a Yugo SKS that I,ve been shooting for 5 years.  Never had any issues till recently when I shoot occasionaly the round wont go off.  Its not the round because I stick it back in the gun and the second time it goes.  Recently I've been shooting Wolf and German made blanks.  Any ideas.

Clean the firing pin and the channel in the bolt.

Good advice on the firing pin and channel, regardless of misfire.  If you haven't had your bolt apart in five years, then it is due.

Also, has this trigger group had any work before?  Many were redone with lighter Wolf springs and the hammer spring is a little weak to impact the pin sometimes.  Trigger groups can become gummed up as well with oil, dust and powder residue.  Some brakleen and compressed air can help, followed by a light oil.

And another.  You may have a batch of ammo with particularly hard primers.  My first 1/2 case of Golden Tiger had a misfire on about 1 in 20 rounds, regardless of which gun I used.  Once that batch got used up, I haven't run into the hard primer problem since.

And.  Yugos can have soft pin syndrome which can eventually cause the pin to start binding in the bolt.  The pins ride up against the keeper in the bolt on recoil and get damaged.  Here's a pic of one of mine that eventually stopped working.  I replaced it with a stainless Chinese pin.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.  I once had a Chinese SKS that went full auto.  Sold it before I found out that firing pins stick and I probably could have fixed it.
With this rifle I always try to make sure the pin moves freely.  Haven't had slam fires yet.  It will occasionally not drop back after going forward on its own, but with a lite touch of my finger it will.  Can't tell if the firing pin is going the full length when fired.
I have fired Winchester, Federal, Wolf and German Blanks with no problems till recently.  I reloaded the ammo that didn't originally fire and all but one didn't go off.  I'm wondering if its the pin or hammer spring.
